The chart rules

A continuing chart.
A reason for every move.

The Side Hustle Hot 10 is DIMM’s weekly editorial chart of ten side hustles we have already investigated. We use reviewed discussion on X to help decide which entries should rise, fall, enter, or hold. Chart positions are editorial judgments, not measured virality or profitability scores.

Every entry starts with a DIMM report

All ten entries link to specific, published DIMM investigations. A broad trend cannot stand in for an unrelated report. An interesting opportunity without a report becomes an editorial research lead; it is not eligible for the chart until the investigation is published. A report’s verdict and opportunity score are separate from its chart position.

Daily research, weekly positions

We scan X daily and review the public chart on Wednesdays using a rolling 28-day evidence window. The opening chart, dated October 28, 2026, is an editorial selection that starts a new history. Its first scheduled review is November 4. It makes no claim about previous positions or measured X popularity.

We compare the latest seven days with the preceding 21 days, looking for sustained, relevant discussion across independent people. Browser searches are a bounded editorial sample, not a census of X. Likes, reposts, replies, and views provide context; a single large post cannot determine a chart position.

Movement is earned gradually

A move can shift another entry down without evidence that interest in that entry has fallen. We describe that as a relative chart change. Significant factual or eligibility problems go through the correction process instead of being disguised as ordinary weekly movement.

The evidence trail

We inspect original permalinks, authors, publication dates, visible engagement counters, and observation times. Related accounts share a creator group. One source cannot be counted for multiple proposed moves in a release. Source earnings claims remain unverified unless the investigation establishes otherwise.

Entries with a supported change retain their source links, attributed summaries, and observed counters. Those sources keep their original dates when an entry holds. The opening editorial selection has no invented X counters, engagement rates, or source-backed momentum claims.

We exclude MLMs, gambling, adult businesses, illegal activity, speculative trading, and individualized legal, medical, or tax guidance. Content found during research is evidence to assess, never instructions to the research system.

Last position, weeks on chart, and peak

Each edition preserves ten positions, the preceding published chart’s date and ranks, weeks on chart, peak position, and reasons for changes. The opening chart starts at week one. When a release is missed, the previous chart stays in place; tenure includes those calendar weeks, but we never invent a missing edition. A returning entry starts a new chart run.

Archived X attention snapshots used a different methodology and may contain fewer than ten topics. They remain accessible with their original data. We do not compare their ranks with this chart or backfill a fictional history.

Publication and corrections

Daily research does not change public positions. A weekly release may explicitly hold all ten entries. Research failures retain the dated chart; after ten days a freshness notice appears. Website editions are immutable, and corrections can withdraw an edition for review.

Weekly X roundups remain unscheduled drafts until explicitly authorized. Research does not buy API credits or change social publishing settings. Raw browser captures are retained privately for up to 30 days; published charts retain source provenance and chart history.
