What we collect—and why.

Opportunity quiz and email results

Before you request results, quiz answers stay in the current browser tab so you can go back or resume. When you enter your email, we store your answers and email in a pending request for up to 24 hours and send a verification link. After verification, we save your profile so your shortlist can refresh against newly published research. Your answers cover budget, available time, preferred work, physical activities, skills, assets, schedule, and income goals; they are not published.

Weekly digest

The weekly digest requires a separate opt-in. It may include general investigations, refreshed recommendations, and relevant new matches. You can unsubscribe in any digest or change the preference on your results page while keeping access to your shortlist.

Quiz access and deletion

We use an essential, private session cookie lasting up to 90 days to let you return to saved results. Verification links expire after 30 minutes. We store token hashes and a hashed rate-limit value to prevent repeated email requests. You can delete your quiz profile from your results page; this removes the saved email, answers, sessions, and digest records from the quiz. Email delivery providers may retain their own delivery logs under their retention policies. Expired pending requests and sessions are cleared during scheduled maintenance; completed digest records are retained for up to 90 days to manage delivery retries.

Reader accounts and ratings

When you rate an opportunity, we collect your email address for passwordless account verification. Your email is not displayed publicly. We store your rating, the article rated, your selected experience category, and the dates the response was created or changed.

Experience notes

If you submit an optional experience note, the display name, note, experience category, and submission date may appear publicly after moderation. Do not include private information you do not want published. We may reject or remove submissions under our community guidelines.

Service providers

We use infrastructure and database providers to host the site, authenticate readers, store responses, deliver verification emails, and prevent abuse. Those providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request logs, device information, and essential authentication cookies.

Analytics

When analytics is enabled, we may collect aggregate information about pages viewed, referring sources, and general device characteristics. We use it to improve coverage and site performance rather than to sell personal profiles.

Retention and requests

Ratings remain attached to an account so a reader can update one response instead of creating duplicates. We retain moderation records to prevent repeated abuse. To request access, correction, or deletion of account-related data, email privacy@doesitmakemoney.com.
